The Heather Bullen Summer Research Celebration welcomes hundreds of people every August to recognize and celebrate the STEM research conducted by NKU students over the summer. This event allows undergraduate and graduate STEM students the opportunity to showcase their explorations and research findings in a formal and scientific setting to their family and peers.
First generation NKU STEM majors are eligible for award nomination by faculty for their leadership and academic efforts. The nominations for the scholarship award take place in spring and the award is presented the following August. Nominees and winners are honored at this event.
This celebration and award honors Dr. Heather Bullen, a tenured analytical chemist who joined NKU in 2004, and passed away in 2012. She had an infectious smile and positive attitude that affected all who interacted with her. Her legacy lives on in her family, friends, students, and colleagues. A scholarship was set up in her name to reward first generation college students majoring in STEM, for their leadership and academic efforts at NKU.
