Feb. 25, 2020— Northern Kentucky University continues the Six@Six Lecture Series with English Professor Kristine Yohe discussing the historical poetry of Frank X Walker. The latest Six@Six lecture is Feb. 27 at The Mercantile Library.
Presented by Scripps Howard Center for Civic Engagement, Dr. Yohe will focus on selected works of Frank X Walker, a former Kentucky Poet Laureate and co-founder of the Affrilachian Poets. Yohe will share selections from Walker’s poetry and show how his historical poems reanimate forgotten, hidden and disempowered African American figures- from civil rights leaders to a Kentucky Derby winner.
Since 2010, NKU’s Scripps Howard Center for Civic Engagement has held the Six@Six lecture series to connect community members with the research expertise of our faculty and their students.
The interactive community lectures run through April 2020. This year, the series is free, but RSVPs are requested. Visit the Six@Six website for tickets and more information.
