Sept. 14, 2020 —  Northern Kentucky University announces a new Health Care Commercialization (HCC) Certificate, the nation’s first graduate program focused on developing and launching new products or services in the healthcare marketplace.

NKU’s fully online program dives into understanding the necessary functions behind introducing health care services and products to the medical marketplace. The new program focuses on translating fundamental research and development into products, services and procedures that are cost-effective and efficient.

“Even though nearly 1 out of every 5 dollars in the US economy is linked to the health care industry, no other institution is educating its students on the unique opportunities and challenges related to commercializing healthcare technologies and services,” said Doug Ladd, Executive Entrepreneur in Residence and professor of Practice. “While some offer certificates in health care marketing, NKU is the first to truly offer this combination of courses. We are meeting the region’s need for trailblazing innovation, and I’m excited to see this program’s impact.”

Students can complete the HCC Certificate in as few as six months, thanks to NKU’s flexible, seven-week format. HCC’s curriculum is geared toward medical providers, entrepreneurs and those ready to advance their careers.

NKU continues to meet the region’s need for health innovations. NKU recently launched a Master of Science in Health Administration and a Master of Science in Health Informatics. The university’s Master of Business Administration program also offers specializations in both health care administration and commercialization through the HCC curriculum.

“Our region is a major hub for health care facilities, biomedical firms, research organizations and medical device manufacturers,” said Doug Ladd, Executive Entrepreneur in Residence and professor of Practice. “There is a need to help those currently in the sector better understand the increasing costs and challenges, such as an aging population. This certificate program will help ensure that.”

Applications are currently being accepted for the HCC Certificate, with courses beginning October 14. For more information, visit here.
