Sept. 8, 2022 - Northern Kentucky University celebrates Cybersecurity Awareness Month with its 15th Annual Cybersecurity Symposium on October 14 on NKU’s campus.
Offered through NKU’s College of Informatics and Chase College of Law and presented by Cortex by Palo Alto Networks, the symposium spotlights the technical and legal challenges that professionals face. A variety of sessions will share best practices that cover a broad range of cybersecurity topics.
Professionals and leaders, drawn from Fortune 500 companies and prominent national law firms as well as from small- and medium-sized organizations, will present at the symposium. Tracks will be available for Continuing Legal Education and Continuing Professional Education credit.
The keynote speaker is Robert Siciliano, a security expert and private investigator with over 30 years of experience and the author of five books. He was the architect of the CSI Protection certification, a cyber social identity and personal protection security awareness training program. He is CEO of Safr.Me and head trainer at ProtectNowLLC.com.
Siciliano has been featured on CNN, Fox News, CNBC, MSNBC, ABC World News Tonight, NBC Nightline, CBS Early Show, The Today Show, Good Morning America and in The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Time Magazine, Fortune, Forbes and Entrepreneur, among others.
The NKU College of Informatics offers several programs in cybersecurity, including a new accelerated online Master of Cybersecurity program that launched in October 2021. NKU also became the first institution in Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati to be designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education by the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security in 2014. The university’s designation was renewed in 2019 for another five years.
Chase College of Law is home to the Law + Informatics Institute, a center focused on educating and preparing students for cyber or privacy law practice. The Law + Informatics Institute offers a series of guest speaker events as well as cybersecurity and data and information privacy courses. Chase also presents several online legal technology courses as part of its Master of Legal Studies program.
